Northern Bank Launches Annual $5,000 College Scholarship 2026

Woburn, Massachusetts, January 2026 – Northern Bank is now accepting applications for its annual $5,000 James E. McGarry, Jr. College Scholarship, reaffirming its longstanding commitment to supporting the families who serve our communities every day.

Graduating high school seniors who have a parent or legal guardian employed as a police officer or firefighter in Middlesex County are eligible to apply. Applications are available online and must be submitted by April 24, 2026.

Established in 2014 by the Northern Bank Charitable Foundation, the James E. McGarry, Jr. Scholarship honors the legacy of “Jim” McGarry, Jr., a Woburn resident who dedicated more than 50 years of service to Northern Bank and was a lifelong supporter of local fire and police departments. The scholarship reflects his belief in hard work, service, and strengthening the communities we call home.

The 2025 scholarship was awarded to Devon Fee whose academic achievements and commitment to community service exemplified the spirit of the award.
