Digital Wallet Terms and Conditions

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) for adding your Northern Bank & Trust Company (“Northern Bank”) Card to a Digital Wallet (the “Wallet”) apply when you choose to add a debit card (“Northern Bank Card”) to a Wallet on any iPhone®, iPad®, or other device ("Mobile Device") that supports the Wallet. These Terms are a legal agreement, so please read them carefully. In these Terms, “you” and “your” refer to the cardholder of the Northern Bank Card, and “we,” “us,” “our,” and “Northern Bank” refer to the issuer of your Northern Bank Card.

1. Your Northern Bank Card Terms Do Not Change

The terms and account agreement that govern your Northern Bank Card do not change when you add your Northern Bank Card to the Wallet. The Wallet simply provides another way for you to make purchases with the Northern Bank Card.

2. Using a Payment Card in the Wallet

If you want to add a Northern Bank Card to the Wallet, you must follow the procedures adopted by the Wallet provider * and any further procedures we adopt. You understand that not all Northern Bank Cards are eligible to be added to the Wallet. We may not add a Northern Bank Card to the Wallet if we cannot authenticate the Northern Bank Card or if we otherwise suspect that there may be fraud associated with the Northern Bank Card. The Wallet allows you to make purchases using an added Northern Bank Card wherever the Wallet is accepted. The Wallet may not be accepted at all places where your Northern Bank Card is accepted.

3. Applicable Fees

Northern Bank does not charge you any additional fees for adding your Northern Bank Card to the Wallet or using your Northern Bank Card in the Wallet. The Wallet provider and other third parties such as wireless companies or data service providers may charge you fees in connection with your use of your Mobile Device or the Wallet. Any applicable fees, and charges that apply to your Northern Bank Card will also apply when you use the Wallet to access your Northern Bank Card. Please review Northern Bank’s fee schedule.

4. Northern Bank is NOT Responsible for the Use or Function of the Wallet

Northern Bank is not the provider of the Wallet, and we are not responsible for providing the Wallet services to you. We are only responsible for the Northern Bank Card. You should contact the Wallet provider’s customer service if you have questions concerning how to use the Wallet or problems with the Wallet. We are not responsible for any failure of the Wallet or your inability to use a Wallet for any transaction. We are also not responsible for any loss, injury or inconvenience you suffer as a result of a merchant refusing to accept the Wallet.

5. Your Responsibilities to Keep Your Northern Bank Card Secure and Notify Us of Errors or Fraud

You agree to protect and keep confidential your User ID, passwords, and all other information required for you to make purchases with your Northern Bank Card using the Wallet. If you share these credentials with others, they may be able to access your Wallet and make purchases with your Northern Bank Card or obtain your personal information. Your Northern Bank Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Agreement requires you to contact us at ONCE if you believe there are errors or if you suspect fraud with your Northern Bank Card. We will resolve any potential error or fraudulent purchase in accordance with the EFT Agreement. We will not be liable for any losses you incur except as specifically described in the EFT Agreement or as otherwise provided by law.

6. Security of the Wallet

In addition to your efforts to keep your credentials secure, we take reasonable steps to help ensure that information we send to others from your use of a Northern Bank Card in the Wallet is sent in a secure manner. However, the Wallet provider* is responsible for the security of information provided to and stored in the Wallet. We are not responsible if there is a security breach affecting any information stored in the Wallet or sent from a Wallet.

7. We Can Block, Suspend, or Cancel Your Use of a Northern Bank Card

We can block you from adding an otherwise eligible Northern Card to the Wallet, suspend your ability to use a Northern Bank Card to make purchases using the Wallet, or cancel entirely your ability to continue to use a Northern Bank Card in the Wallet. We may take these actions at any time and for any reason, such as if we suspect fraud with your Northern Bank Card, if you have an overdue or negative balance on your Northern Bank Card account, or if applicable laws change. You may remove a Payment Card from the Wallet by contacting the Wallet provider and following the procedures for removal.

8. Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Your privacy and the security of your information are important to us. Our Consumer Privacy Policy (available online at: applies to your use of your Northern Bank Card in the Wallet. You agree that we may exchange your information with the Wallet provider, a payment network, and others in order to provide the services you have requested, to make information available to you about your Northern Bank Card transactions, and to improve our ability to offer these services. This information helps us to add your Northern Bank Card to the Wallet and to maintain the Wallet. We do not control the privacy and security of your information that may be held by the Wallet provider.

9. Use of Your Information

The Wallet provider may use your information for different purposes, so please review carefully the portion of Wallet provider’s Software License Agreement and privacy policy. By provisioning your Northern Bank Card to the Wallet, you are changing your information use and sharing choices to allow all such sharing.

10. Contacting You Electronically and by Email

You agree to receive electronic communications from us, in connection with your Northern Bank Card and the Wallet. You agree that we can contact you by email that you provided to us in connection with any Northern Bank account. You agree to update your contact information with us when it changes. You may also contact us if you wish to withdraw your consent to receive these electronic communications, but doing so will result in your inability to continue to use your Northern Bank Card in the Wallet.

11. We May Change these Terms at Any Time

We have the right to change this agreement from time to time. We will notify you at least 30 days before a change will take effect if it will cause you greater costs or liability, or if it will limit your ability to engage in electronic transfers. We do not have to notify you in advance, however, if the change is necessary for security reasons. We have the right to terminate this agreement or any EFT service described herein at any time by giving you written notice. You cannot change these terms, but you can terminate these Terms at any time by removing all Northern Bank Cards from the Wallet.

12. Notices

We can provide notices to you concerning these Terms and your use of a Northern Bank Card in the Wallet by posting the material on our website, through electronic notice given to any electronic mailbox we maintain for you or to any other email address you provided to us, or by contacting you at the current address that we have for you in our records. In the case of joint accounts, notice to or from one account holder will be effective for all the account holders.


If you have any questions, disputes, or complaints about the Wallet, you should contact the Wallet provider using the information given to you by the provider. If your question, dispute, or complaint is about your Northern Bank Card, then contact us at: 1-800-273-6908.

*A Digital Wallet Provider like Apple Pay™ stores your physical credit and debit cards as virtual cards in your mobile device, allowing you to make purchases at participating merchants.
