Senior Product Manager - Business Solutions

The Senior Product Manager – Business Solutions is responsible for accelerating Northern Bank’s growth in serving the full-service financial needs of Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs). From core banking solutions (deposits, cash management, lending) to emerging A/R, A/P, payments, digital lending and other innovations, the successful candidate will work with all departments to ensure that Northern Bank is the leading SMB financial partner in New England and across the country.

The Senior Product Manager – Business Solutions will quarterback the ongoing development and refinement of our product offering for the SMB market.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Senior Executive team to define the Bank’s SMB product roadmap and vision, including full-service digital banking for SMBs

  • Capture requirements from internal stakeholders, customers, prospects, competition and market research

  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to define project priorities and manage implementation of technology, product and process innovations

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with Core System Provider (FIS), 3rd party technology providers, fintechs and others to deliver against the Roadmap

  • Manage ongoing relationships with 3rd Party partners, participating on their customer councils and advocating for innovations and enhancements to strengthen the Bank’s offerings

  • Collaborate with Marketing to define messaging and Product Marketing strategy for new launches

  • Train sales teams on new solutions

  • Measure and monitor growth of SMB business and product adoption.


  • Strong analytical mindset: Numbers make sense to you and your communication skills allow you to articulate the data and results to the executive leadership team

  • Strong business sense: You understand the SMB market, pain points and value drivers. You understand the economics of banking SMBs and how to drive customer profitability for the Bank.

  • Banking Experience: At least 5 years working for retail or commercial Bank in Cash Management, Treasury Management or Product Management

  • Product Management Experience: At least 5 years experience as a Product Manager, managing solutions for SMB customers.

  • SMB Fintech / Technology Experience: You have Product Management / Sales / Product Marketing experience in serving the financial needs of SMBs either at an established player or a fintech. You have experience working with and integrating to core systems providers, including FIS (IBS).

  • Project management: You excel at balancing multiple projects and priorities. You know how to manage your time without someone looking over your shoulder and also are comfortable asking for help when you need it.
